Exploring Wonderland

with Beth Steel and Adam Penford

Tuesday 23 January - 7.30pm

Ustinov Room - £5 (members only)

Join the writer and director of Wonderland for a guided tour of the lost world depicted in the show.

Playwright Beth Steel will spend an hour in conversation with Nottingham Playhouse’s Artistic Director Adam Penford, who directs our staging of the muscular, ambitious drama whose Hampstead premiere in 2014 made her name.

Delve deeper with Beth and Adam into the creation of this remarkable play. Wonderland offers a kaleidoscopic glimpse beneath the surface of the 1980s Miners’ Strike, with settings ranging from Welbeck’s coalface to Whitehall’s corridors of power. How did Beth – herself the daughter of a Nottinghamshire miner – meld the personal and political into such gripping drama? And with this major revival marking Adam’s directorial debut at the Playhouse, do she and Adam share a sense of homecoming?

This fascinating event is now on sale exclusively to Playhouse Pass members at £5 per ticket. Become a Playhouse Pass Member today to enjoy Exploring Wonderland and many other benefits, including savings of up to 25% for every Nottingham Playhouse Theatre Company mainstage show.
