We’re upgrading our systems!

We’re pleased to let you know that we’ll have a brand new website and booking system ready for you shortly. It’s something our team have been working on for a long time, and not even COVID-19 could stop us in bringing you this new and improved online experience.

Whilst we are making the necessary changes behind the scenes, we are unable to take any bookings and you won’t be able to login into your account at this time. We expect the new site to be up and running on/around Friday 25 September, so please check back then.

Many thanks for your patience and support at this time.

What is a Relaxed Performance?

We offer performances that are more relaxed for all those who benefit from a show where loud noises are reduced, elements of surprise are kept to a minimum and moving around the auditorium is not a problem.

Relaxed Performances are carefully created for people with learning disabilities and their families or carers so that everyone can enjoy the wonder of theatre at Nottingham Playhouse in an environment that is comfortable and supportive. The house lights will be partially up throughout and ‘chill-out’ areas will be available before, during and after a performance. If a familiarisation visit would be helpful, we would be very happy to accommodate this.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding familiarisation visits, wheelchair access and disabled parking, all you need to do is email

Multi-sensory pre-show touch tour

There is a free multi-sensory touch tour available before the Relaxed Performance on Tue 29 Dec. The touch tour is designed for children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities to explore the sensory elements of the show. The families will have the chance to touch and feel the props, costumes, experience the music and meet the cast. For more info email

Jack and the Beanstalk

A giant adventure for little ones aged 3-8 and their grown-ups

Filled with music, dancing and plenty of opportunities to join in, this charming family show is the perfect introduction to live theatre.

When Jack sells his beloved family cow in exchange for three beans, his mother is extremely cross and throws them out of the window. But these are no ordinary beans. These are magic beans! In the morning, Jack awakes to find a huge beanstalk in his garden and soon discovers that it leads to a magical kingdom that’s full of surprises.
With golden eggs, a magic harp and one very hungry giant, join Jack on his fun-filled adventure this festive season and make lasting memories with your little ones.
