On 11th December 1963 the “new” Nottingham Playhouse opened at Wellington Circus with a production of Coriolanus, directed by Sir Tyrone Guthrie and starring John Neville, Ian McKellen, Leo McKern and Michael Crawford.
Exactly 50 years later we will celebrate this historic building with a very special gala performance of Jack & the Beanstalk. And it’s not just the building that is celebrating an anniversary – OH NO! – it will also be Kenneth Alan Taylor’s 30th pantomime as writer and director!
The pantomime gala performance will be a sensational night to remember – a truly sparkling evening with canapés, celebratory drinks, guests and surprises.
Alongside the Jack & the Beanstalk actors we will also be welcoming back three much-loved faces from previous pantomimes, who will be making special appearances at the Gala performance:
Susie McKenna, Principal Boy in many of our early pantomimes and now Creative Director at the Hackney Empire.
Nathan Dowling, who last appeared as Wishee Washee in Aladdin in 2008.
Jeffrey Longmore, who has appeared in seven pantomimes at Nottingham Playhouse, many alongside Kenneth as Dame
It will be a wonderfully unique and celebratory evening, full of fun and surprises. It will also be an important fundraiser for the Nottingham Playhouse capital fundraising appeal – helping to secure our future.
After the performance, guests will have the opportunity to bid on several fabulous pantomime lots in a charity auction, including:
- 2 front row tickets for the final night of Jack & the Beanstalk, pre-theatre dinner in CAST and a room at Hart’s Hotel
- A handmade Pantomime Dame’s costume
- Tour of Trent Bridge, signed Notts CCC shirt, two 20:20 tickets for 2014
- A CAST cocktail created in your name and lesson in how to make it
- A pair of free tickets to every Playhouse production in 2014
- And more!
11 December at 6.30pm with the performance starting at 7.30pm
