U.Dance 2014 Programme

Friday 27th June at 7pm

Introduced by renowned choreographer Richard Alston and Chair of Youth Dance England, the opening night of U.Dance 2014 will give you a taste of the inventive and inspiring range of dance work being performed by young people across Britain. The programme includes the acclaimed National Youth Dance Company (England), which will present their 2014 work The Rashomon Effect, directed by Akram Khan and talented local young people from the Dance4 Centre for Advanced Training.

Saturday 28th June at 7pm

Saturday will see a stunning night of youth dance work including two of our New Dimensions pieces, a strand of the festival which showcases exceptional pieces which really push the boundaries of youth dance work. The evening will also showcase a piece by the National South Asian Centre for Advanced Training, which brings together both their Kathak & Bharatanatyam dancers.

Sunday 29th June at 4pm

This is the grand finale of U.Dance 2014, presenting a vibrant range of youth dance work and featuring two special elements of the festival for 2014. A specially commissioned piece led by* Dance4*, performed by disabled and non-disabled dancers from across the East Midlands and the three pieces selected through U.Dance South Asian, a new strand to the festival unique for U.Dance 2014.
