Enabled Upstart is an exciting work experience programme for students aged 15-20 with physical and/or learning disabilities. Over a one week placement in the Autumn term participants gain practical experience in a producing theatre.
Students will work alongside our marketing, props, wardrobe and technical teams to produce a short performance at the end of the week for family and friends.
Participants also have the opportunity to gain an overview of how the Playhouse works as an organisation, and to understand the career-paths available within a regional repertory theatre.
The programme is supportive and challenging and encourages students to be their best. Come along and have some fun learning something new.
“What I really appreciated the most were the high standards you set for the young people. The young people were challenged, given a real sense of inclusion and most importantly their parents and teachers could see what they were really capable of. I really believe they have all learned valuable skills from this.” Lucy Fisher, Project Co-ordinator, Barnardo’s
