We are delighted to announce that Schools Massive will return in the spring term of 2019.
This exciting project provides 10 local schools (Primary and Secondary) the opportunity to work alongside professional practitioners to create a short piece of theatre from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The programme includes six in-school artist-led workshops, alongside professional development training for teachers and support staff. Together we will turn school halls and classrooms into rehearsals rooms; and each class will create a scene to put together for a special performance on our main stage.
“We feel very lucky to have had this amazing opportunity; to experience Shakespeare in a fun, physical way. The children were inspired and challenged. The active engagement allowed them to understand and use the original language and recognise and relate to plot, setting and characters. It’s brilliant to be part of a joint enterprise with other city schools. Our talented practitioner Alix, created and fostered an atmosphere where all the children felt confident to perform. It’s a meaningful experience they will remember for the rest of their lives and wonderful to hear children say, Yay it’s Shakespeare day!”
