“I’m always in the wrong place at the wrong time. It’s because of my no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealin’-great-great-grandfather.”
With generations of bad luck in his family, it’s no surprise to Stanley Yelnats when he finds himself the victim of a miscarriage of justice and sent to Camp Green Lake.
Camp Green Lake by name, but certainly not by nature – there’s nothing green and no lake, just a lot of holes populating the barren landscape… He’s told the holes are to ‘build character’ and soon joins fellow inmates in digging one hole, five foot wide by five foot deep, every day.
Facing up to the tyrannical Warden, her two cronies, fearsome rattlesnakes and yellow-spotted lizards, will Stanley and his new friends unearth what’s really going on at Camp Green Lake?
Holes is a multi-award-winning novel that went on to have box office success on the big screen. Louis Sachar’s theatrical version is perfect for both adults and kids, promising quality drama with an added shovel full of fun. Including live music and puppetry, this off-beat and quirky adventure romp is a tale of friendship, family and the power of redemption.
