Encore is a friendly theatre group for the over 50s who want to engage with theatre more closely. Each session will focus on a different talk, workshop or Q&A session with a range of freelance art practitioners and industry professionals, alongside Orla O’Connor, Nottingham Playhouse’s Participation Officer. All are welcome and activities are suitable for everyone. Encore meet on the second Tuesday of the month 1:30 – 3:30 with refreshments provided.
Upcoming Encore sessions
Outburst Youth Group, Art sharing – 12th March 2019
This year we will be celebrating LGBT History Month with Outburst an organisation for young people who identify as LGBTQ+. The youth group have been looking at the work of famous artists and creating responsive art work. They will give us an insight to the work they have made; paintings, creative writing and spoken word. Outburst members will also be discussing the importance of the organisations work in the city.
Behind the Scenes of Nottingham Playhouse – 9th April
This session is an opportunity to meet people who work behind the scenes at Nottingham Playhouse, We will look at how a play is transformed from an idea to a production on stage and discuss how this is done with the people who make it happen.
New Associates, a creative insight – 14th May
Two of Nottingham Playhouse Associates will be joining us to share their work and discuss what they hope to create at the theatre.
Opera singer Samantha Joy Tayler – 11th June 2019
Samantha is a Nottingham based Opera singer who will be performing for us. She will talking about her music career and new musical soon to be showcasing in London.
Please note that all sessions run from 1:30 – 3:30
All workshop based activities will be fully accessible, but members can elect to observe if they feel more comfortable with this.
