Please note: Unfortunately, due to the current situation with COVID-19, Playhouse Platform will not be going ahead until further notice. We will be contacting all participants with updates as soon as we know more, but for the time being, we’ll be trying to release digital resources instead where possible. Do look out for content over on our Digital Playhouse page.
If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and the team will get back to you.
Playhouse Platform is Nottingham Playhouse’s theatre arts company for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities, who meet weekly to develop their drama and facilitation skills. The group is for up to 15 adults with learning disabilities or who are on the Autistic Spectrum to learn more about making theatre and performing. Company members learn to be drama facilitators and about careers in the industry, as well as practising their own performance skills. The company meets on Wednesday afternoons during term time, including creating one show each year to be performed for the public, friends and family
Over the last few months Playhouse Platformers have gained experience of workshop facilitation by leading activities for other Playhouse participation groups and worked alongside our ushers for auditorium performances, to build Front of House skills.
Please see details below. Should you not be able to commit to a full ten week term, please contact the Box Office to discuss options. We are keen to find ways where possible to offer spaces even for shorter periods of time. This cannot be guaranteed but please do call for an informal conversation.
Recently, Playhouse Platformers have worked with City Arts to create a series of lanterns on the theme of local waterways wildlife. The group members have created a beautiful set of lanterns that they will process as part of the Nottingham Light Night parade on Saturday 8th February. These lanterns will then be a central part of a new movement piece they will create together & perform on Wednesday 25th March in the Neville Studio.
Cost: £30 for 10 weeks. This needs to be paid on week 1 or earlier.
Where: The sessions will be held at College Street Arts Centre. This is across the road from the Playhouse on College St.
What: Playhouse Platform is the name for the first term. The sessions will be looking at ways that you can become more confident in leading activities yourselves.
To Book: Pay at the Nottingham Playhouse Box Office which is in the main entrance to the theatre. You can book over the phone but you will need a bank card.
