Building a relationship with Nottingham Playhouse and with other artists from the East Midlands.

By becoming a member you are part of a network of artists connected to Nottingham Playhouse who live in or come from the East Midlands. We want you to feel welcome in the building and part of the larger community of creatives. We want to get to know artists in the region and build a clearer picture of what professional development is needed.

Membership is FREE and offers the following:

o Regular Amplify Update emails with upcoming opportunities and events.
o Invited to take advantage of £10 tickets for selected performances of Nottingham Playhouse Theatre Company productions (see below for details).
o A discount card for 25% off food and drink in Playhouse Bar and Kitchen.
o Access to space at Nottingham Playhouse when available (see below for details).
o 1 to 1 meetings with the Artist Development Producer to discuss your work in general, a specific project, an ACE bid, or questions you have about the industry.

Professional theatre-makers at any stage of their career who feel that we may be able to support their development. An artist could be someone starting out post-education, early in their career, someone who has been making professional work for a while or extremely experienced. We support individual artists AND theatre companies or collectives. This programme is only for those wishing to work professionally in theatre AND who originate from or currently reside in the East Midlands region (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire).

There are four sections to the form – Contact Details, Education History, Amplify Eligibility and Contact Preferences. Please fill in all three sections and then upload your CV and our Equal Opportunities Form before pressing submit.
If you are applying as part of a theatre company or collective, every individual member needs to fill out a form, listing the name of their company/collective in the appropriate box. You can also upload your company or collective CV instead of an individual one if you’d prefer. (This is essential for individuals getting discounted tickets and a PBK card.)

The aim of this application process is simply to find out as much information about YOU and your needs as an artist. We’re not trying to trip you up with this form – just give us as much information as you possibly can, and hit submit!

If you require an alternative way to apply, please email to arrange a phonecall or face-to-face meeting.

If you fit the criteria we’ll sign you up to Amplify for regular newsletters, new opportunities and invitations. We process applications monthly so it can take 2-6 weeks to get you onto the system. You’ll receive a letter and a discount card in the post once you’re on our system.

Booking Space

Making theatre requires space: meetings, auditions, rehearsals, creative time. Our spaces aren’t always being used by Playhouse staff. If you need some space drop the Artist Development Producer an email to see if we can help.

We can’t guarantee it and it’s helpful to ask for it a few days in advance if possible.

Spaces available:

Understudy Studio – small rehearsal studio downstairs with a glass front and wooden floor suitable for rehearsals, auditions or creative meetings.
Pods – Small glass rooms suitable for meetings and small creative endeavours.
Ustinov Room – a larger carpeted room (with a strategic pillar) suitable for rehearsals or auditions.

Our usual opening hours are 10am – 8pm.
Space is not available on Sundays.
