Tragic Death of Ukrainian Playwright Anna Yablonskaya
It is with great sadness that we report that the Ukrainian playwright Anna Yablonskaya was killed on the 24 January at the airport bombing in Moscow.
Anna’s play The Irons was due to be performed at Nottingham Playhouse as part of a showcase of emerging European contemporary playwrights during the Nottingham European Arts and Theatre Festival (NEAT11) this summer. The reading of Anna’s play will still go ahead and we would like to dedicate the performance to her memory.
Anna participated in the 2010 International Residency at the Royal Court Theatre with her play Scenes From Family Life. Elyse Dodgson from the Royal Court’s international department will be visiting Anna’s hometown of Odessa in February to start a new project with Ukrainian writers and this work will also be dedicated to Anna’s memory.
