The Kite Runner returns

Thursday 12th June 2014

Following its hugely successful run last year, The Kite Runner returns to our stage ahead of a national tour this autumn.

Last spring saw the European stage premiere of Khaled Hosseini’s bestselling novel wow critics and audience members alike. The play had been adapted for the stage by Californian playwright Matthew Spangler.

Following press night director Giles Croft commented that it had been a “privilege to bring such a complex and affecting story to the stage, to such a warm response.”

The Kite Runner is a haunting tale of friendship that spans cultures and continents and follows one man’s journey to confront his past and find redemption. Set against a backdrop of defining events, from the fall of Afghanistan’s monarchy through to the Soviet military intervention, the exodus of refugees to Pakistan and the United States, and the rise of the Taliban regime.

The Kite Runner is at Nottingham Playhouse from 29 August until 6 September then tours.
