STOP PRESS! Mass Bolero participation groups now confirmed

Thursday 3rd April 2014

Over 25 groups from across Nottinghamshire have now signed up to take part in Mass Bolero; our mass participation event in partnership with Dance4, Confetti Media Group, Notts TV and Spool.

All groups have been busy rehearsing sequences from the iconic Torvill and Dean Bolero routine that will be immortalised in an eight minute film to launch the neat14 festival on 23 May.

The interest has been phenomenal with groups from Nottinghamshire Police, the Fire Service, and Health Service all signing up. Joining them will be staff from Wollaton Hall, the Sea Cadets and cancer researchers from Nottingham Trent University. Age has been no barrier in taking part in Mass Bolero; school children from Heathfield Primary School and Oakfield School will be dancing alongside librarians and an over 60s dance troupe.

But Mass Bolero wouldn’t be complete without the standing ovations and infamous ‘sixes’. The standing ovations come from a wide range of famous Nottinghamshire venues from Nottingham Forest Football Club and Boots through to Newark Air Museum and Sherwood Forest.

As for those ‘sixes’ we have some of the most recognisable Nottinghamshire institutions helping out. Holding up those sixes will be; the Ice Arena, Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, the Nottingham Post and the Galleries of Justice and many more.

Get involved!

There is still time for you to get involved! On Tuesday 8 April at 11.30am join us in Nottingham’s Market Square as we film the final dance move of Mass Bolero. No dance experience is necessary but plenty of enthusiasm is essential. Filming should conclude no later than 1.30pm. To find out more about Mass Bolero, or how to get involved click here.
