Star of My Judy Garland Life Revealed

Monday 11th November 2013

Discovering My Judy Garland Life is a free event taking place this evening (Monday 11th November) at 6pm and will offer a very special insight into our forthcoming world-premiere of My Judy Garland Life.

We are delighted to reveal today that musical theatre star Sally Ann Triplett has been cast in the role of Judy Garland. A Judy Garland fan herself, Sally Ann has appeared in numerous West End productions including; Cats, (New London Theatre), Chicago, (Adelphi Theatre) and Guys and Dolls, (Piccadilly Theatre). Sally Ann will be performing live as part of Discovering My Judy Garland Life.

My Judy Garland Life is based on the autobiographical memoir of critically acclaimed author Susie Boyt. It tells the story of growing up under the spell of Judy Garland. Judy’s heart-stopping blend of joy and anguish helps Susie with her own personal troubles, ultimately bringing her through her darkest days.

Commenting on the role, Sally Ann said: “I always knew I wanted to perform from a very early age and my parents would sit me down in front of the telly any time an MGM film was on, so my love for Judy began a long time ago. It’s a time in history I wish I had been born in and so it feels almost full circle to be playing the lady herself. It’s a daunting task but something I am incredibly excited about.”

Discovering My Judy Garland Life will also be an opportunity for you to hear from Susie Boyt, whose book the play is based on, playwright Amanda Whittington and the director of the show, Kath Rogers.
