We’re delighted to present our new Autumn/Winter 2018 What’s On Guide, with updates and brand new shows for the coming months!
The latest announcement includes confirmed casting for our much-loved Playhouse Panto, Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood, directed and written by Kenneth Alan Taylor. Considered a “Midlands institution” (The Guardian), this year we welcome the return of actors Tim Frater and Kelly Agredo as Robin Hood and Maid Marian. Playhouse favourite John Elkington will be taking to the stage as Nurse Nellie Noggins, alongside Rebecca Little as Tilly Tuck the Tomboy. Joining them will be Robin Kingsland as the evil Sheriff of Nottingham.
As a seasonal treat for our youngest audience members, we are excited to present a magical and festive retelling of the Brothers Grimm fairytale The Elves and the Shoemaker. The show promises to be a perfect introduction to theatre for little ones, following in the tradition of family favourites, Town Mouse and Country Mouse (2017) and The Princess and the Frog (2016).
The Autumn season kicks off with our previously-announced programme, which includes our first musical for more than a decade: Sweet Charity. This uplifting Broadway musical is followed by poignant play Kindertransport and the highly anticipated production of The Madness of George III, which is set to take Nottingham Playhouse to a global scale when it is broadcast live in partnership with National Theatre Live.
