Oedipus Fully Cast
We are thrilled to announce that our forthcoming co-production of Oedipus which will begin its run at Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Theatre, before coming to Nottingham Playhouse from Wednesday 23 March – Saturday 9 April is now fully cast.
Director Steven Berkoff has assembled a superb cast, who have already started rehearsals at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London.
Taking the title role of Oedipus is Simon Merrells who recently appeared at Nottingham Playhouse in 2008 in the premiere of Steven Berkoff’s staging of On the Waterfront, which went on to be presented at the Hong Kong Arts Festival in March last year, following successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe and West End.
Louise Jameson is cast as the only female role, playing Oedipus’ Mother (and accidental wife) Jocasta. Louise is probably best known for her role as Rosa di Marco in Eastenders and has also made appearances in Bergerac, Tenko and Doctor Who.
Other familiar faces to the Playhouse include Alex McSweeny, Sean Buckley, Vincenzo Nicoli and Ian Drysdale all of whom also performed alongside Simon Merrells in On the Waterfront at Nottingham Playhouse. All four have been cast as part of the ensemble, with Ian Drysdale also taking on the role of Oedipus’ aid Tiresias.
We look forward to welcoming the cast to Nottingham Playhouse in March.
