Young poets across the East Midlands will have the chance to show off their ‘slamming skills’ in the regional final of Shake the Dust, a national celebration of the power of spoken word, taking place at the Playhouse on Saturday 9 June.
Young people from across the East Midlands have worked with leading performance poets to help them write, craft and devise performance poems which will be showcased as part of the regional final.
The highest scoring team from this event will go on to represent the East Midlands at the National Shake the Dust Weekend.
London 2012 Festival
Shake the Dust is part of the London 2012 Festival, a spectacular 12-week nationwide celebration running from 21 June until 9 September 2012 bringing together leading artists from across the world with the very best from the UK.
Shake the Dust is presented by Nottingham Playhouse, Writing East Midlands and Mouthy Poets in association with Apples.
4pm – 6pm
Twilight, writing and performance workshops including an open-mic, will be led by the Mouthy Poets with special guest writers and artists and are open to anyone with an interest in the spoken word.
