Mary Shelley set used to host political debate

Wednesday 2nd May 2012

On Monday, Nottingham Playhouse played host to a Question Time-style public debate the Nottingham Post had organised to discuss whether a directly-elected Mayor would be best for Nottingham.

Artistic Director, Giles Croft, welcomed guests to the Playhouse and said: ‘The timing of this debate couldn’t have been more perfect; Mary Shelley is a play brimming with political discussion so it seems fitting that tonight we are hosting this debate on the set of Mary Shelley.’

BBC East Midlands filmed the debate and gave highlights in their Monday night bulletin.

The people of Nottingham will be voting today to decide whether the city should have a directly-elected Mayor.
