The Ashes Cast Confirmed
We are delighted to announce that our forthcoming production of The Ashes gets off to bat with the lead roles now in place.
This new play from award-winning local playwright Michael Pinchbeck is the engaging true story of local cricketing legend Harold Larwood and the controversial Bodyline tour of 1932/33.
Fast Bowlers Harold Larwood and Bill Voce will be played by Karl Haynes and Daniel Hoffman-Gill respectively.
Karl Haynes, from West Hallam in Derbyshire, is a prolific actor of stage and screen, previously featuring in the New Perspectives Theatre production of The Wasteland by Laura Lomas and as ‘Mellors’ in the Hull Truck Theatre production of Lady Chatterley’s Lover that appeared as part of the recent neat11 Festival programme of events, while numerous screen appearances include Eastenders, Heartbeat, A Touch of Frost and Holby City.
Daniel Hoffmann-Gill is also native to the East Midlands, hailing from Nottingham, and is no stranger to the stage and screen. He previously appeared in the Nottingham Playhouse productions of Jamaica House, Macbeth and Heaven of David and also works as a professional playwright and stand up comedian.
The Ashes is a dramatic story about honour, pride, class, politics and sport performed by a stellar cast that is sure to enthral and engage on many levels.
We look forward to welcoming the cast to the Nottingham Playhouse in September!
