The first ever stage adaptation of the hit CBeebies television show is well underway and you can see how rehearsals are coming along by looking at the rehearsal photos on the event page and on our Facebook.

Brand new story

Grandpa in my Pocket – Teamwork! is a brand new Grandpa story for the stage. The show takes Jason and Grandpa on a pirate adventure in search of treasure. An ensemble cast will bring all your favourite Sunnysands characters and places to life with songs, dance and puppetry.

Theatrical magic

Creators of Grandpa in my Pocket and writers of this new story, Mellie Buse and Jan Page explain why they are delighted to be bringing the show to Nottingham Playhouse: “The beauty of the theatre is that it’s a place where the imagination knows no bounds. You can take an idea anywhere on the stage, whereas with TV you’re restricted to a few sets and locations. So a theatre show offered us the opportunity to tell a ‘Grandpa’ story that we could never tell on television. The magic is still there but it’s theatrical magic.”

Artistic Director, Giles Croft and Chief Executive of Nottingham Playhouse, Stephanie Sirr, are looking forward to the arrival of Grandpa: “Everyone here has been hard at work creating this first-ever stage interpretation and we hope that this new story, ‘Teamwork!’, magically brought to life with inspired design, songs, puppetry and an exceptional cast, will delight and dazzle you as much as it does us.”
