Ears Wide Open for Audio Walks

Wednesday 7th September 2011

When you whisper, I imagine… and Threads are examples of outstanding collaborative creative writing specially made for Theatre Writing Partnership (TWP) and Nottingham Playhouse as part of neat11 (Nottingham European Arts and Theatre Festival).

You are invited to download the FREE audio tracks and experience the stories in site specific locations around the city centre of Nottingham.

When you whisper, I imagine … is a collaboration between local writer Andy Barrett (Garage Band and The League of Youth) and playwrights from Kosovo, Serbia, Bulgaria and Derby. These playwrights were challenged to write short pieces about specific locations in Nottingham’s city centre – using small clues that Andy posted to them as their inspiration. Three of the writers had never visited Nottingham before they took up the challenge…

After a frenzied fortnight of brilliant theatre and a very tight recording and editing schedule, Nottingham Playhouse and Theatre Writing Partnership are delighted to bring you When you whisper, I imagine…

You can either listen online or download the tracks by clicking here. A map of the route can be found here.

Using the buildings and history of the Lace Market area of Nottingham Threads, also written by Andy Barrett, leads the listener through an encounter between two people who have nothing at all in common, but who need each other more than they could possibly imagine.

‘We see the big things that make change happen, the wars and the inventions, but we don’t see the little things, and we need to. We need to see the threads that tie us together.’
