We’re delighted to announce the cast for The Princess and The Frog, our festive show for little ones in the Neville Studio.
Charlotte Ellen – Princess Fenella
Born and brought up in Melton Mowbray, Charlotte is delighted to be making her debut at Nottingham Playhouse this Christmas. This year she has enjoyed joining The Eastern Angles, as Phyllis, in The Fletton Railway Children and playing Leonid Borodin in a new adaptation of the lost Russian novel, The Year of Miracle and Grief, with Explore the Arch. She has also helped produce the short film Ironheart with Middle Realm Productions.
Recent roles include Cinderella and Peter Pan at Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries, Elvira in Blithe Spirit and Rosencrantz in The English Repertory Theatre’s bold resetting of Hamlet.
Lee Rufford – Filbert the Frog
Lee trained at The Oxford School of Drama where he was the winner of a Laurence Olivier Bursary Award. Lee has recently finished recording the part of Smith in BBC Radio 4’s adaptation of The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner and can also be heard as Michele Solara in Radio 4’s ongoing adaptations of Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan Novels.
He also appeared in Paddy Considine’s directorial debut Tyrannosaur, which won a BAFTA for best film in 2011. Recent theatre credits include several national tours, playing Tony in Richard Conlon’s The Boy at the Edge of the Room, Tim in Gary Owen’s Free Folk and the Corporal in Rory Mullarkey’s Each Slow Dusk. Lee is very happy to be playing a frog this Christmas, one of his favourite creatures.
The Princess and the Frog is a magical re-telling of the classic Brothers Grimm tale about friendship and the making and breaking of promises. Brought to you by the same team who created 2015’s Hare & Tortoise, the show is packed full of action, music, songs and a chance for everyone to get involved.
