We’re delighted to announce the full cast for our upcoming production of The Glass Menagerie, the American classic by Tennessee Williams. Directed by Giles Croft, this tale of love, loss and shattered dreams will begin rehearsals on Monday 15 February and open on Friday 11 March.
Susannah Harker (BBC One’s Pride and Prejudice) plays the role of Amanda whilst Tom will be played by Chris New, star of the multi award-winning film Weekend. Laura is played by Amy Trigg, and Daniel Donskoy (BBC Four’s The Detectorists) is the gentleman caller, Jim O’Connor.
The story unfolds through the memories of Tom, a poet and a dreamer who hates working in a warehouse and living in an oppressive tenement home. His controlling mother, Amanda, lives by her charm and the steely gentility of her Deep Southern roots, is fixated on finding a husband for her shy and reclusive daughter. But Laura has long since shunned the real world for one of fantasy and escapism – her menagerie of glass animals.
