Meet The Smerdy, a new kind of cocktail

The Smerdy

CAST – Nottingham Playhouse’s Bar and Restaurant – has recently added a brand new cocktail to its ever-expanding cocktail menu: The Smerdy.

One of the lots in the charity auction at the Playhouse’s 50th anniversary Gala in December was the opportunity to have a cocktail designed in your honour. The winner, Verna Smerdon-White, asked that the cocktail be created for her grandson, Jake, in celebration of his twenty-first birthday. And so, the Smerdy was born!

The designer of the Smerdy was CAST’s General Manager, Tim Wheelhouse, who created a brand new cocktail, making use of Jake’s favourite flavours.

The Smerdy is a crisp, sharp and powerful combination of Gin, Cherry Marnier, Amaretto and lime. It was loved by Jake, his family and friends when they came to CAST for a special cocktail workshop, as part of their prize.

The Smerdy, pictured above, now appears on the CAST cocktail menu and is fast becoming a favourite tipple!

The BWB

Tim recently created another new CAST cocktail for Nottingham-based engineering and environmental consultancy firm, BWB Consulting, who held a drinks reception in the bar at the end of January. The BWB – a concoction of Gin, lemon, honey and Prosecco – was a hit with BWB staff and clients on the night and remains on the CAST cocktail menu.
