In Shakespeare’s captivating comedy, mismatched lovers and devious tricksters navigate the slippery shores of Illyria in search of their own happy endings.

A shipwreck separates twins Viola and Sebastian, but tragedy quickly turns to comedy when they wash up in a land turned upside-down by love. With raucous antics, ravishing language and rich characters, Shakespeare creates a bittersweet tale of laughter and longing.

Twelfth Night features some of Shakespeare’s finest comic characters including Sir Toby Belch, Sir Andrew Aguecheek and the victim of their constant torment Malvolio.

Paulette Randall returns to Nottingham Playhouse following her previous highly acclaimed productions Moon on a Rainbow Shawl, Angel House and Three Sisters.

  1. Can't wait to see 12th night !! I just love Shakespeare and I could happily watch his work till the cows came home and went out and came home again.

  2. Watch out for Marcus Powell as Malvolio - He'll knock your socks off! (If that's not too un-Shakespearian an expression!!)

    Mitch Mitchell from March Cambridgeshire

  3. It's not un-Shakespearian - as long as he knocks your yellow cross-gartered socks off

    Charlie Westenra

  4. look out for Velile Tshabalala , a star of the future with great stage presence.

  5. What a brilliant production. Very funny indeed, I loved every minute. As another reviewer said, Malvolio was a real treat, but congratulations to all of the cast, very well done.

  6. We attended the prevew performance on Sat 25th Sept. An immensly satisfying experience! The choice of time and location for the piece seemd a little unusual, but this worked extremely well. The cast were all very good and I have never seen a better Malvolio! I've heard all of the jokes before but have never laughed so loud! Well done to all!

  7. Fantastic show last night (27th). A wonderful and imaginative adaptation of a much loved play, and a brilliant cast. I agree with Tony Wells, I have never seen a better Malvolio, and at the end his singing voice was a relevation. Well done and many congratulations to everyone
