Favoured? Honest? Full of promise?
Bratsberg is a man of tradition. He thinks manners; knowledge and education are the foundations of a good society…but are his values dated? Monsen is an entrepreneur who believes success comes from hard work…but can he be trusted? Stensgard wants change. He is convinced that society belongs to its people…but will his naïve plans land him in hot water?
Ibsen’s political comedy has long been praised for its sparkling wit and cynical humour. But The League of Youth is uncanny in the mirror it holds up to present-day Britain, where every promise leads to compromise in the rush to snatch a share of the power.
A brand new adaptation by Andy Barrett (Garage Band, The Day That Kevin Came) finds fresh satire and contemporary reflections in this rarely-seen comic gem.
Part of Nottingham European Arts and Theatre Festival (neat11)

I absolutely loved it. Local politicians, don't you just love them. And what a cast. I was cheering and booing as the energy flowed and couldn't stop myself crying with laughter. I think London theatre's will be keen to book this startling production

Thought it was really well put together and despite being written along time ago it was bang up to date with todays politics. Very funny and brilliant cast and liked the participation with the audience!

Just seen this production- excellent! Really enjoyed it- cast all very good, production, scenery, costumes etc- really liked the way the whole auditorium was used and the audience brought in on the action. The play itself could have been written yesterday as the themes are pretty much relevant today!!
Definitely recommend. Hope it might come back as would like to see it again - so much going on that another viewing would be good to fully appreciate?from Nottingham

I wish I could pop over and see my old mate and great actor, Jon Rumney in this British premiere of The League of Youth!
