1959. Norfolk. Beatie Bryant returns home after three years in London. She has fallen in love with Ronnie and passionately believes she has escaped her rural roots through the love and education of a good man.
As her family anticipate Ronnie’s arrival, Beatie talks about London and her new-found ideals, but they are Ronnie’s words, not hers. Will she ever find her own voice?
Roots is a revolutionary play bursting with humour, imagination and compassion by one of the greatest playwrights of our generation. A must-see for all lovers of modern classics.
On these lovely summer evenings you are welcome to take your ice cold drinks into the theatre while you are watching the show. You can do this all year round, not just when it’s hot.

Reviews
An absorbing production
— The Stage
Natasha Rickman doesn’t disappoint (as Beatie Bryant)…It’s a performance of great sensitivity, even maturity, from a young actress just at the start of her career * * * *
— What’s on Stage
This superbly constructed Kitchen Sink Drama is a real window on the changing lifestyles of the fifties.

We really enjoyed 'Roots' last night - it was the first time we'd seen anything by Arnold Wesker. Very thought provoking theme, superbly acted, & as usual the set & costumes were wonderful.
