Corporalis is a vibrant dance performance featuring Retina’s trademark physicality.
Exploring the three dimensional perspective in personal and architectural space, Corporalis reveals a consciousness of the body and the relationship to its environment.
“How does our physical body respond to its surroundings? To colour, light, sound and visual stimuli?”
Corporalis is a collaboration between choreographer Filip Van Huffel, Belgian architectural collective Ruimtevaarders, Dutch sound designer Marieke van de Ven and British lighting designer Andrew Hammond to create an evolving environment for one, two and four dancers. The unique space builds a world for Retina to contain their trademark physicality and athletic partnerwork.
Corporalis is the final part in a trilogy inspired by the relationship between the body and different art forms. Eleven Stories for the Body, Distance to our Soul (2005) was inspired by text and This is not a Body (2007) was inspired by visual art.
