Be a star: help young children to SHINE
We’re continuing to raise money for our SHINE appeal to create and sustain free community youth theatres for children between 8 and 16 across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Generous donations made by audience members last year meant we were able to start and continue eight community youth theatres in Bulwell, Mansfield, St Ann’s, Sherwood, Chilwell, Bramcote, Gedling Netherfield and Gedling Newstead and have plans to start one at the Queens Medical Centre. Over 120 children now have the opportunity to work together to create theatre, grow in confidence, learn life-enhancing skills and discover their unique voices to tell their own stories.
“Without the Bulwell Youth Theatre, I would not have the confidence or life skills that I now have”. Bulwell Youth Theatre participant, age 14.
This year, we’re aiming to raise £54,000 so that young people, often with little or no experience of the performing arts, from all across the city and county can learn life-enhancing skills and enjoy an enriched and creative life. We can only do this with your help.
Please consider making a donation to the SHINE appeal – a contribution of any size will ensure we can continue with this essential work.
£25 covers the costs of a workshop assistant (who will be trained to become a workshop leader) for two sessions.
£100 buys the workshop materials needed for an entire year.
£200 funds one youth theatre workshop for up 30 young people.
