Comedian Rob Brydon is currently delighting audiences as his most famous character Keith Barret, as he tours the UK with a new live show based on his hit BBC 2 TV series – THE KEITH BARRET SHOW. Rob Brydon brings this live version to Nottingham Playhouse for two nights on Sunday 10 July & Monday 11 July (8pm). One of the most exciting talents to emerge in British comedy in the last few years, catch Rob Brydon as part of his exciting nationwide tour. Keith last appeared onstage in spring 2003 and went onto a four week sell-out run at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in 2004. His appearance in July completes a season of high-calibre Nottingham Playhouse comedy from stars such as Jimmy Carr and Dara O Briain.

Rob Brydon was born in Baglan near Port Talbot in 1965 and attended the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. His cult BBC 2 series, MARION & GEOFF, received critical acclaim and he has gone on to create and star in numerous TV comedy successes including HUMAN REMAINS, DIRECTORS COMMENTARY and THE KEITH BARRET SHOW - picking up some of comedy’s most prestigious accolades and awards for his performances. The first series of MARION & GEOFF was broadcast in 2000. That year, Rob won Best Newcomer at the British Comedy Awards. MARION & GEOFF was a bittersweet series that charts the life and lost love of Keith, a cab driver, whose wife has left him for another man. Later that year, the show was also presented with the South Bank Show ‘Best Drama Award’ and ‘Best Newcomer to the Network’ honour at the Royal Television Society Awards. The following year he was voted ‘Best Actor’ at the British Comedy Awards for his performance in another of his darkly comic creations, HUMAN REMAINS.
In July 2004 Keith Barret was given his own comedy talk show on BBC 2 – THE KEITH BARRET SHOW. During the series Keith quizzed celebrity couples on what makes a successful relationship and presented filmed reports from a variety of sex and relationship experts. MAKING DIVORCE WORK by Keith Barret, a self-help book based on the TV series, was released in autumn 2004 and the second series of THE KEITH BARRET SHOW was broadcast on BBC 2 from January 2005. The second series has been nominated for the prestigious Golden Rose Award at this year’s Montreux Television Festival. Earlier this year, Rob played the infamous Kenneth Tynan – theatre icon, TV taboo-breaker and Evening Standard critic – in Chris Durlacher’s IN PRAISE OF HARDCORE, an acclaimed one-off drama for BBC Four.
