Places filling fast for Youth Theatre 2010 (19/01/2010)

With the February half-term approaching, Nottingham Playhouse is recruiting a new generation of young theatre-makers to take part in this year’s Youth Theatre programme. Places are now filling fast on a first-come, first-served basis. Anyone between the ages of 14-18 are invited to apply by calling the theatre’s Box Office now on 0115 941 9419.

The Youth Theatre programme offers young people the chance to develop drama skills and meet friends, with the chance to be selected to take part in our Easter main stage production of Blood Wedding. Satellite Youth Theatre groups have been running since 2006, culminating in the main stage production once a year. The Visit last Easter, with the full professional support of the Playhouse’s production staff, received excellent press reviews.

The groups meet in four locations: Chilwell Comprehensive, West Bridgford’s The Becket Comprehensive, Arnold’s Redhill Comprehensive for Gedling students and Nottingham Playhouse for students from City of Nottingham schools and our Year 13 focus group. In each location, the course will run from 10am-4pm (Chilwell from 9.30-3.30pm) each day during half term week, 15-19 February.

Exploring themes contained in Blood Wedding including Lorca poetry, the February Youth Theatre will develop a variety of theatre skills, with a short ‘sharing’ at the end of the week for parents, friends and participants from the other groups. 22 students, representing all four groups, will be selected to take part in Blood Wedding, to be performed on the Playhouse main stage during the week beginning 12 April 2010.

Places can be booked on a first-come, first-served basis for a small fee of £20 via the Nottingham Playhouse Box Office on 0115 941 9419.
