My 3 sons 16‚ 18 & 25(accompanied by friends)‚ 4yr old grand-daughter‚ friends‚ work collegues & relatives took advantage of your very generous seat offer for the matinee 18/12/09.
For some it was their first experience of theatre life‚ for each and everyone it was a wonderful‚ inter-active‚ fun filled afternoon.
The adaption was good‚ the costumes and scenary spot-on‚ the contents family friendly.
We all extend our sincere appreciation and congratulate the actors on their fantastic performance.
I am never disappointed when I attend a performance at the playhouse.

This play was really funny. Bella was really pretty and she was beautiful. I loved it when they sang all the songs and called people on stage and gave out goody bags and then at the end we all saying‚ 'We going to a wedding!' and it was funny when he said‚ 'i would love to go and see the beast but...x factors on tonight' at the end the dress was nice with the cake on the dress.

TALE AS OLD AS TIME...BUT YOU CANT BEAT A CLASSIC AND KENNETH ALAN TAYLOR HAS CREATED ANOTHER CLASSIC‚ HIS 26TH CONSECUTIVE ONE. I AM SURE THAT THERE IS LESS GLITTER AND A FEW LESS JOKES THAN LAST YEAR BUT YOU WOULD NOT REALLY NOTICE AS THIS MAGICAL PANTO TRUNDLES ALONG AT A LIVELY PACE AND I WAS REALLY SURPRISED WHEN THE FIRST BREAK CAME ALONG. JOHN ELKINGTON IS BACK AS MADAME FIFI WITH HIS USUAL APLOMB AND MULTIPLE DRESS CHANGES CAMPING IT UP AS ONLY NOTTINGHAM'S FAVOURITE DAME CAN DO. JACQUES IS PLAYED BY ADAM FLYNN‚ TAKING OVER THE HAPPY CHAPPY ROLE FROM NATHAN DOWLING IN LAST YEAR'S PANTO. WHERE DO THEY GET THEIR ENERGY FROM? ONE FOR THE LADIES THIS YEAR IS IN THE GUISE OF GASTON‚ WHOSE LIST FOR SANTA OBVIOUSLY INCLUDES A HAND MIRROR SO THAT HE COMPLIMENT HIMSELF EVEN MORE‚ PLAYED BY JAMES MARTIN. THROW IN TWO NOT SO GLAMOUROUS SISTERS PLAYED BY THE WONDERFUL REBECCA LITTLE‚ LAST YEAR'S FAIRY BOWBELLS‚ AND ALEXANDRA JAMES WHO HAS LEGS RIGHT UP TO HER ARMPITS‚ ANTHONY HOGGARD AS MAURICE‚THE LOVELY DANIELLE CORLASS (THERE IS A JOKE SOMEWHERE IN THERE)AS THE BELLE OF THE BALL‚ BELLE AND NOTTINGHAM'S JONATHAN RACE AS THE BEAST. THERE WERE NO EXTENDED ENCORES THIS YEAR‚ BUTTERFACE MADE A RETURN (IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT‚ YOU OBVIOUSLY ARE NOT A PLAYHOUSE PANTO REGULAR)‚ A HOST OF GREAT SONGS INCLUDING A JACKO TRIBUTE‚ A GREAT STORY‚ WONDERFUL SCENES‚ CLEVER AD LIBS‚ THREE BIG TEDDY BEARS AND EVERYTHING YOU WILL NEED TO GET YOU IN THAT CHRISTMAS FEEL GOOD MOOD. IS IT BETTER THAN LAST YEAR...NO‚ IT IS JUST AS GOOD‚ AND THAT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME.
Emma (Nottingham) on 02-December-09
We went to see Beauty & the Beast on the opening night at the Playhouse this year & I have to say it was amazing & well worth the money! The cast were superb & the costumes & scenary stunning. The kids were captivated by the whole performance! A very magical evening & I'd highly recommend it to anyone.
Mike Peverill (Sherwood Rise‚ Nottingham) on 01-December-09
I came to the opening night with my son‚ who's 11 and maybe too old for panto (or so I thought)‚ but the two of us laughed our socks off‚ sang and generally joined in throughout. A thoroughly entertaining and over the top production with elaborate set and costumes‚ great songs and dance routines‚ lots of jokes and ad libs from the (great) Dame. Panto as it should be‚ full of fun and energy.
