From humble beginnings, Mrs Warren makes her way in the world, and indeed her fortune, by morally questionable means. Her daughter has benefited from this wealth, being well educated and well off; however the gap between mother and daughter results in an exchange of views between the generations that is both frightening and tough on the heart. This play conjures a compulsive psychological and social debate with resonances for our own time.
