Whisky Galore! - The Making of a Fillum
Friday 2 - Saturday 17 February 2007

When the SS Cabinet Minister runs aground in a patch of scotch mist, 50,000 cases of US-bound liquor are washed ashore. There's just one fly in the amber nectar: Captain Waggett of the Home Guard, and an Englishman to boot, who dutifully alerts HM Customs & Excise. With whisky on the rocks, the race is on to conceal the precious cargo from the authorities.

Sir Compton Mackenzie's post-war bestseller was based on real events. Giles Croft directs his own spirited adaptation - taking inspiration from an incident which took place just hours before the start of filming for the Ealing comedy - and transfers this much-loved Highland caper to the stage.
