In 1963 Andy Warhol bought a 16mm film camera and pointed it at a friend while he slept. The resulting 8 hour film "Sleep" was the first of many films of everyday activities. Taking Warhol's films as their starting point, Gob Squad create a journey back in time and back to the future again. A quest for the original, the authentic, the here and now, the real me, the real you, the hidden depths beneath the shiny surfaces of modern life.
Gob Squad playfully create theatre through everyday life, capturing the results on video with entertaining results. Their work is a search for beauty, meaning and humanity amongst the glittering facades and dark corners of contemporary culture.
