Dr. Görtler arrives at the Black Bull Inn in Yorkshire compelled to track down three figures from his recurring dreams. Walter Ormund, the highly stressed workaholic, Janet Ormund, the emotionally withdrawn wife and Oliver Farrant a young idealistic teacher.
