Roundabout sets its artistic and educational policies within the framework of Nottingham Playhouse policy. The Playhouse’s current three-year plan lays out the organisation’s over-arching targets and ambitions, and then offers an analysis of the current position, aims, and targets and objectives for every strand of operation.
Roundabout is part of the broader Education Department of the Playhouse, which also includes the BRIT (Black Regional Theatre Initiative) Programme, the Playhouse Education Programme, the Outreach Programme, and Club Encore, the Playhouse’s theatre club for seniors.
Roundabout has earned a national and international reputation for its work with young people and is unrivalled in the provision it makes for Primary schools. It is widely acknowledged that it is important to provide young people with a positive theatre going experience at an early age. In view of the prevailing climate, education needs to be looked at in the context of ‘life long learning’. Therefore, Roundabout will be examining potential growth areas and looking at how any additional income may benefit a wider age range.
Roundabout offers a high quality, user friendly service that is monitored and evaluated effectively. There is an Advisory Panel and a Steering Group to ensure that advice flows into the organisation from practitioners and the education sector as well as funding partners. The current staff are keen to expand, develop their skills and share policy and good practice in a wider forum. The strength of the service over the years has been due to support from the funders who have ensured that a core is sustained that can attract other funding. |
