Nottingham Playhouse Roundabout is the Theatre in Education company at Nottingham Playhouse. Our remit is to produce plays and workshops for children and young people, and training and support for teachers. This year we celebrate 30 years of service: in that time we’ve created over 250 plays, and performed to over half a million children!
We’re part of the Education Department of the Playhouse, and work closely with the BRIT and Outreach programmes, as well as co-ordinating the workshop activities linked to plays on the main stage.
Our plays and workshops are available to schools, colleges, universities, community and youth groups, small theatre venues, conferences and festivals. We work primarily in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, but we also tour nationally and internationally.
Most of our plays and workshops have an educational focus, and are usually supported by teachers’ resources targeted to specific areas of the curriculum. As well as schools, Roundabout’s plays are booked by colleges and higher education institutions, as examples of issue-based or educational theatre for performing arts and teaching students.
We hope that schools and theatres wishing to book our work, students researching theatre-in-education, and teachers wanting scripts or teaching resources, will all find what they need on our site. Please let us know if you think there’s anything else we could include.
