· Are you part of a group or organisation in Nottinghamshire?
· Is your group interested in a wide range of entertainment?
· Would your group members be interested in coming to the theatre, but for various reasons may find it difficult to attend?
If so the hotHOUSE scheme may be for you…
At Nottingham Playhouse we firmly believe that ‘inclusion’ is the most important aim of our organisation. We aim to encourage all aspects of society and the community into our theatre, and feel it is important to try and break down social barriers and attitudes in order to provide stimulating and enhancing experiences for everyone.
Joining our hotHOUSE scheme would enable your members to attend a wide variety of performances at Nottingham Playhouse, and provides a warm and friendly introduction to the theatre environment - which we hope will stimulate and entertain your group in ways not experienced before.
What does being a hotHOUSE member involve?
We already have wide variety of groups and organizations in our scheme including charities, self-help groups, support groups, groups with disabilities, different community groups. All we ask is that our hotHOUSE members would genuinely be interested in attending our theatre but would usually be unable to do so.
As a hotHOUSE member your group would receive a membership card and regular newsletters detailing the performances you would be invited to attend. These specially selected nights are called ‘hotNIGHT’ and they provide a welcoming and lively introduction to Nottingham Playhouse. Being a hotHOUSE member entitles your group members to tickets to our ‘hotNIGHT’ at a generously discounted rate, this is our way of encouraging people who would usually be unable to or uninterested in attending our theatre. If your group is interested in attending one of our performances we would ask that you purchase a minimum of eight tickets – please remember that although we expect group leaders/employees to attend the hotNIGHT performances, the hotHOUSE scheme is primarily for your group members.
How can the hotHOUSE scheme benefit your group?
Self Help Nottingham have been attending hotNIGHTs since they began. Their group leader Monica McDonald feels that being a hotHOUSE member “enhances our social lives and gives us a chance to meet up with different people. People who have not been to the theatre before now feel confident about going.”
Andrew Clipsham from NoRSACA says “we value the opportunity to offer this service to our members. It really does encourage them to ‘take a break’ from their caring roles or, where they have a level of autistic spectrum disorder themselves, it provides an opportunity to go out in a non-threatening environment.”
